Go into the control panel, find regional options. Go through the various screens and change your keyboard settings to UK, as you are currently on US.

I'm with Gary, the first gig I remember going to was Adam & The Ants, at Fort Regent in Jersey. Think it was 1981 too, but could have been '82.
Had the pleasure of sitting side stage, with the roadies feeding me sandwiches. Result for a first gig.
