should the reunion have happened earlier?

Postby Ray The Tongue » Mon Apr 09, 2012 3:50 pm

Just watched a clip of ''Turn on the Night'' cannot help but wonder if they had done the reunion tour earlier when MTV were still playin rock video's and released say ''Crazy Night'' with Ace and peter they could have been massive in Europe, especially with the whole make up stage show. Not to mention Paul was at the top of his game as a vocalist , Ace was even writing some good material at this point...''Rock Soldiers'' or ''Lost in Limbo'' or ''Shot Full of Rock'' would have fitted well on a reunion Kiss record i reckon. :)

It would have been too soon after they split though, and would not have had the 'nostalgia factor' that leaving it longer created.

Plus Eric Carr had an established make up character, and it would have been harder to push him out of the band and keep favour with a portion of the fans....it's bad enough as it is with the flack Tommy and Eric Singer get!

Maybe but at least when Peter started moaning they could of ditched him for Eric Carr.

Nah, too early for the Reunion in 87/88 we would have missed out on Hot in the shade and Revenge which to me are worthy Kiss albums and vital parts of Kisstory, I also would have missed a great night out in Cardiff watching Kiss and Danger Danger in 92 !!! I think that Ace and Peter would have also left the band just like they have done and with Eric Carr gone Kiss might have struggled even more with the fickle fans about replacement band members.....

I believe there were talks around '90 with a partial reunion with no Peter.

I think it would have been better if they'd done it earlier. They were over the hill by the time the reunion happened and some of the PC/farewell concerts were painful. HITS and Revenge would have been much better with Ace writing/playing and he was desperate to get back in KISS in the late 80's. I think there was a market there for a reunion, Deep Purple did it in 1984 after all. Poss with Peter or EC, either way I think it would have been cool.

Heh heh! Revenge is great but something as off the wall as Audio Video or the Acorn is Spinning takes KISS albums to places Gene and paul wouldn't go to. PC was just such a disappointment and I think Frehley in 89 would have been a more potent creative force. But who knows eh??

The revenge tour was awesome...saw it the states too. The band were really close with the fans at that point as well. The way things happened we got the best of both worlds.

It happened at the right time. All concerned needed it at that time and couldn't afford for it not to work. As soon as they could afford it in cash or popularity terms it all fell apart again any earlier and they ALL would still have believed that they didn't need each other.
