New Kiss Tribute CD

Postby Brian Peters » Wed May 06, 2009 4:57 am

A new Kiss tribute cd was released last month. Here are the details:

Space Bear - A Tribute to KISS has the energy, accuracy, and attitude of classic Kiss.

Made by die hard Kiss fans, Space Bear includes at least one song from each Kiss LP, including the solo records, through Kiss Unmasked. The CD achieves a swagger/stagger guitar sound, rolling bass, swinging drums, and strong vocals that make KISS so endearing to their fans.

The production drills down to the smallest level of detail - even down to the feedback swells on I Stole Your Love (like the live version), the split second 2nd guitar drop out before the solo on Hooligan, and Gene’s voice inflections on Two Timer, just to name a few.

Songs like Tomorrow, You Matter to Me, and Mr. Make Believe are given a slightly harder edge, sounding like they came from Rock and Roll Over or Love Gun.

I'm particularly impressed that they created 18 audio snippets as part of the scam. That takes ripping people off to a whole new level of sophistication and dedication.

Well scam maybe was the wrong word.

The page didn't look very professional that is all.

Ripping people off and "scams" usually involves making a profit, so it's not a scam :) No one special playing on it, just 4 Kiss fans recording some of our favorite Kiss songs.

... Tough crowd

Not normally and a small minority.

We'd love to know more about who is playing on it etc, could you give us some history?

I would use - once bitten twice shy - people have registered and then - used this forum as a marketing platform. Then left without a trace.
Brian, if you could list who plays on it and where, when how .... do they have a myspace page so we could support them - especially if they are Brits.
Maybe you could ask the lads to contact either myself or KISSinUK for a interview - push the project along.

Mind you - your comment about "tough crowd" too damn right - we KISS fans know what we want and don't want!

here are the players:
Dave Comer, Guitar and lead vocals. Bands he's been in: 8:28, Lexington, Heaven Below
Chad Clark, Drums. Bands: Lexington, Heaven Below (currently in).
Me, Guitar and backing vocals, no bands since college (14 years ago...not worth mentioning!)
Chris Candela, Bass - ditto

Not exactly an all star line up :D

We spent about 2 years recording the CD.

3 of us are cousins. Dave has been a Kiss fan since age 6 - when Rock and Roll Over came out. All of us have been fans since before we were 10. Two of us have been covering Kiss songs in our garages since 1983.

We are Americans :o , but if things keep going the way they have been over here, maybe I'll take the family and move to England :D

We just did the CD for fun - not expecting to make any money. Honestly, by the time you pay for the licensing, pressing, and sales commission for distribution, there's little chance of making even a fraction of your money back unless you have an all star line up.

Thanks,
Brian
