At the time this sounded quite depressing, but you have to remember that the NYNEX had only been open a year (I think) so that's not too bad I guess really, considering I've seen loads of bands there with a half stage set up since 1996.

I hope if Kiss do return they do major UK arena in London AND some regional theatre shows, like in Australia a few years back...

Funny thing i cant really remember the Nynex/MEN being empty for KISS!! (Unlike the NEC in 92)!
However I saw Deep Purple and Styx (Poor bastards were NOT appreciated by the Purple fans) There and they had a quarter set up..! The stage was set half way down and the top tier was closed too..!!

Motley crue only sold out the bottom tier
Rush last year had a black curtain across the rear section..

however a few years ago I saw Busted sell out 3 nights..!! Rock N Roll!!

From what I remember in 96,the Nynex seemed pretty full to me,as was the NEC

If this is the case, Kiss not filling the venues, do we think that smaller venues would be more sensible. The Apollo in Manchester instead of MEN Arena for example.

I'd love to see KISS again in a smaller theatre type venue...the City Halls/Apollos.

Probably have to cut back on the pyro...but they did it in Australia...
...they'd stand a better chance of selling them out also...book 2-4 nights at Hammersmith, announce one or two, and add the others if the first two sell out. Solves the problem of playing Wembley/O2 and risking not selling it out...could do the same at a northern venue also...M/chester/Edinburgh Playhouse...great venues...

...thing is I think they'd prefer to do one/two major gigs...rake in the cash...and leave!

Here's the latest update from http://artemisinside.blogspot.com/

Interesting stuff, especially about the possible fate of the re-recordings...

"The world of KISS is, and always will be a crazy and unpredictable one. Plans change more often than one could imagine and once again, KISS have changed their gameplan.

As the very successful Alive/35 European Tour comes to an end, the band have now set their sights on other parts of the world. The information I have been getting as of late on what comes next is conflicting at best. I'll spare you the specifics, but here's the important stuff:

* In two different interviews conducted this past week, Gene acknowledged the band would playing concerts until the end of October.
* The groundwork is already being laid out for KISS' return visit to Europe next summer. Dates could surface as soon as late October.
* A full-scale Asian tour is being discussed for January 2009 or sooner.
* The band have been offered the headlining slot at a major South American rock festival that is held each spring.
* KISS have seen the surprise success that Journey has had with their latest album, the Wal-Mart only release Generations. The latest word as of a month ago was that KISS were planning to release their re-recordings on iTunes. While that may still happen, the scope of the re-recordings release as indeed changed.
* KISS are indeed in talks with LiveNation about a full-scale U.S. tour. It was originally said to be taking place in the Fall, but may be pushed back to early 2009 since the touring market was oversaturated with rock shows this summer. Gene in particular is extremely eager to get the band on the road in America, so it may just happen after all.

There is a lot more information out there but until I get something concrete, I'll hold back. As always, stay tuned for more as it develops..."

Interesting, but until it's set in stone ... won't get too excited

The wallmart success of Journey seems to have changed record releases strategy.

Rock In Rio would suit KISS, they haven't played it?
Always fancied a trip to Rio - after reading an OZZY fan Northern Ireland badgered his parents to fly him out to see OZZY at the first Rock in Rio in 1985.

Frustrating how details keep changing and dates conflict...but that's the nature of the industry I guess. My "source" was quite definite about an early (Jan/Feb) 2009 return to Europe...but that was based on a tentative release date and promotional schedule for the DVD. I guess the Euro release of KISSOLOGY will either be delayed or the release will go ahead and coincide with the announcement of the dates for Summer 2009 tour to give it some buzz and legs...maybe.

Jolly exciting stuff!!!!

Then again...maybe they will return and tour in Jan/Feb having been given an offer they can't refuse!
Anyone know if the larger U.K. venues have mysterious "hold" dates booked in Jan/Feb?

I quite like Thayer08's (formerley Camp America) suggestion of a joint Kiss/Status Quo arena tour should Kiss decide against doing theatres and feel they cannot sell out arenas in the UK on their own.

That would be a top gig.
