Thin Lizzy Announce New Line-Up, UK Tour

Post by Mr.Spireite »

Thin Lizzy have now officially confirmed their new line-up – and it includes a member of Def Leppard.

Here’s how the new Lizzy looks:

Scott Gorham – guitar

Vivian Campbell (Def Leppard) – guitar

Ricky Warwick (The Almighty) – vocals/guitar

Marco Mendoza – bass

Darren Wharton – keyboards

Brian Downey – drums

The new look Lizzy have wasted no time in confirming a UK tour for the start of 2011, with the following dates confirmed:

January 6: Aberdeen Music Hall

January 7: Glasgow O2 Academy

January 8: Newcastle City Hall

January 10: Leeds O2 Academy

January 11: Llandudno Theatre

January 12: Leicester De Montfort Hall

January 14: Wolverhampton Civic Hall

January 15: Manchester Apollo

January 16: Bristol Colston Hall

January 18: Southampton Guildhall

January 19: Ipswich Regent

January 21: Cambridge Corn Exchange

January 22: London Hammersmith Apollo

The band will be supported by Supersuckers, and tickets go on sale exclusively from 9am on Friday, May 14 through http://www.planetrock.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. They’re on general sale from 9am on Friday, May 28, and you can get them from http://www.livenation.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

They’ll cost £23.50 everywhere, except in London, where they are £26.

Lizzy will also play a special show in Dublin on January 4, to mark the 25th anniversary of Phil Lynott’s death. More details on this gig will be announced soon, including special guests.

And, as if that isn’t enough, Universal are planning deluxe reissues of the Thin Lizzy back catalogue.

Problem is that the media would perceive that as sacrilage to some extent. If say a Freddie Mercury look/soundalike was in Queen now, would it be more valid or laughable ????

I am not sure myself.

Discuss...

Only as laughable as the original was.

Ricky Warwick is an interesting choice, not an obvious candidate for the job.

Really not sure about Warwick with Thin Lizzy......the guy has a great voice and The Almighty were fkn great, but i don't think he'll be suited to Lizzy.
Why don't they just call the band after one of the T.L albums and just do Lizzy songs?

I think this will get slagged off good and proper.........especially at £23 a ticket

Haven't we had this conversation before?

Jedward would be an improvement in my book, thats how highly I rate Freddie.

Just my opinion Danny - I even took it as my Q to leave Stamford Bridge last weekend when they started playing We are the Champions!

I won't be attending this gig ....
I've just visited Phil Lynott's grave and this is just wrong.
Saw the Sykes led TL at Hard Rock Hell II and that was just speeded up travesty.

I know it has Gorham, Downey and Wharton and have been an Almighty/SIC/Ricky Warwick fan for over twenty years - but this is not my idea of Thin Lizzy.

RIP Phil Lynott.

Should not call themselves Thin Lizzy without Phil Lynott, maybe should call themselves Jailbreak or Renegade.
Poor choice of singer, not a fan of Ricky Warwick.

To me classic Thin Lizzy will always be "Phil Lynnott and band", but with the passing of Phil I'm just glad to see the music being kept alive.

I'll go along to see them in Glasgow, have seen the Sykes fronted version of the band a few times and they were very good.

I hope the newest line-up pays proper respect / tribute to Phil's memory -I'm sure they will......
