Before KISS it was 'Adam & The Ants'
Now it is a toss up between 'Toy Matinee', 'Journey', 'Styx', 'The Doobie Brothers' and 'pre-1979 Chicago'

Without a doubt it would have to be Extreme/anything involving Nuno Bettencourt (that way I'd have the same sense of unfairness that the UK never gets to see them live that I get with Kiss )

Tough one-
For Me, KISS embodied/embody the perfect mix of Music and theatre. I loved Glam/Hard Rock and theatrical concepts, and no one else did/does it like KISS...
(The) Sweet would perhaps have been close (as they were the first 'Glam' band I was into), or maybe Van Halen, & Crue.
If I were born a fair bit later, I guess it would be Nine Inch Nails, Smashing Pumpkins, Deftones, or Slipknot.

Pink Floyd
In fact, I was one of those kids in late '79 that was hooked on the 'Another Brick..part 2' single, & thankfully my older sis bought 'The Wall' album, I borrowed it, & it remained on my record player most of '80 Then, Dec. '80, am in Australia and KISS had just been there (although I was aware of the band before I went there, again thru sis), KISS was everywhere & i came back to England hooked, but the Floyd (& Waters solo career) remain a personal favourite still to this day, and even more so the older I get for some reason..
