Vote USA 2008

Post by Pete »

Seeing as the US Presidential election is less than a month away and the outcome will probably affect the world who would you vote for?

I don't know much about either party and their candidates but from what I've heard I'd vote for Obama/Biden myself.

What about you guys?

Raydeen, Marie. As US correspondents what are your feelings on this?

It really doesn't matter. Who ever gets in will have lied through their teeth anyway.

I don't get what it is Obama offers.

He has everything Blair offered in 1997, lots of hype, little substance. The outcome will be the same - all spin, no delivery.

I have yet to hear him say anything that goes beyond pure rhetoric and I fail to see who there is that is providing the "wisdom" that his lack of experience needs.

Have to say I am not massively convinced by the McCAin/Palin ticket either. Selecting Palin was such a poor decision, it does make you wonder.

Obama will win. We will all suffer.

Only a loon would vote for Bush's Mini-Me and that "hockey Mom". The last 8 years have been unbelievable, and if the republicans get in again, only the same crap is going to happen again for the next 4 years. In a recent poll (I know there are many polls) only 10% of people said that they were happy with the way their country is being run. It wasn't a poll run at a Democratic party convention either. The Republicans right now only seem to care about oil, arms, and protecting the super rich. They can't even look after the injured troops that have had limbs blown off in Iraq.
Anyone who thinks McCain is a fit choice for president, have a look at this YouTube video and tell me that he isn't a mentalist. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-zoPgv_nYg

That's a surprising view.

McCain does offer exceedingly good chips and the prospect of a shaggable vice president but I don't think that's enough.

Anyone see "Recount", the film about the 2000 "election"? If a quarter of that was true (and there doesn't seem to be much doubt about it's accuracy) then the Republicans don't deserve to enter a candidate at all.

If this thread was a UFO song, the chorus would be "Only you can lock me, lock me."

It's a close call for me, and I know a number of Conservatives have gone for Obama.

The biggest danger for me is if the Republican's win just because of the vote of the religious right (which is what happened in 2004) - it means the Republicans can win by putting whoever they want as a Candidate as long as one of the ticket is from the religious zealot.
