I've heard a rumour that Metallica are doing the friday at Download 2009

last year was one of the few downloads they havnt done so perhaps so!

The organizers of the UK's Download festival have announced that next year's event will take place over the weekend of June 12-14, 2009.

The Download festival is a three-day music festival held annually at Donington Park (which hosted the Monsters of Rock festivals between 1980 and 1996, and 2002's Ozzfest). It takes place at the end of spring, and is owned and managed by Live Nation.

The first Download festival was held in 2003. The headliners were originally IRON MAIDEN and LIMP BIZKIT, although LIMP BIZKIT pulled out and was replaced by AUDIOSLAVE. METALLICA reportedly attempted to step in as headliners, but were unable due to already being headliners at that year's Reading and Leeds festivals. Instead, they played an unannounced "secret slot" in the afternoon on the second stage.

Ok let's start a new rumour (and that's all it is!)

Kiss (with Ace) to headline the Saturday night of the 2008 Download festival...

well how about such a scenario: Ace Frehley coming to UK with his band and KISS opening for them that is more possible scenarion than KISS and Ace playing together.

but honestly I do not mind the present KISS... they play cool and well. and as much as I like Peter Criss, I prefer Eric Singer on drums....

Wacken is great because:

Its all metal...no shite pretending to be metal
Its £70 not £170
Organisation is brilliant: Toilets, showers are all hygenic and cleaned
Everyone is a metal head, not a emo/indy/trendyboy etc
The Biergarten is open from 7am til 6am
Headbangers Ballroom
The Metal Market
the atmosphere is brilliant, no one steals from your tent, and your not sleeping in shite..

The bands may not be as premier (ie this year Dony had Crue and Maiden, Wacken didnt really have the top headliner: reformed Immortal, In Flames, Blind Guardian) but the crack and atmosphere is far nicer...

Give me Wacken every time!

and you stumble across a drunken DTT in the Biergarten.

Wacken is awesome, it has a great atmosphere. And ACe in the Party tent would indeed be great.
