Viagogo tried to get an injuction to stop the broadcast.

Channel 4’s Dispatches wins injunction against Viagogo.
Dispatches, the Channel 4 current affairs show, has beaten an attempt by ticket reselling website Viagogo to get a High Court injunction against it, and tonight will allege that the company has a special relationship with concert promoters that is ripping off fans.
Viagogo applied for an injunction against Dispatches but it was dismissed in court yesterday (February 22).
Dispatches went undercover to investigate allegations that major live-event promoters were ripping off fans by allowing thousands of tickets to be sold through the Viagogo website above face value.
The programme has now won the right to reveal its findings.
Dispatches will allege in a special show to be broadcast tonight that most of Viagogo’s tickets to concerts by artists such as Iron Maiden, Bon Jovi and AC/DC are not from individual fans, but professional ticket resellers or tickets that were allocated to the promoters themselves.
A Channel 4 spokesperson said: “It is disappointing that having provided Viagogo with a fair opportunity to respond to the allegations … they chose instead to seek an injunction which would have effectively stopped the broadcast of our programme.
“We are pleased that we can now broadcast in full a programme of important public interest.”
Viagogo issued the following statement:
“Viagogo exists to provide a safe, secure marketplace for the buying and selling of live event tickets.
“Viagogo is an open marketplace, and while the majority of sellers are individuals we do not disallow larger sellers, including event organisers, from selling on our platform.
“Above all we provide a guarantee that buyers will get the tickets they have paid for which has helped dramatically reduce ticket fraud and scams in the UK.”
The Dispatches episode airs tonight (Thursday, February 23) at 9pm GMT on Channel 4.

Well lets hope they get closed down.
The only fan site I have ever used was Scarlet Mist to see one my daughters tickets for a newbie metal band which a loving mum bought t face price for her daughter. Thats the way it should be.
No chance of getting front row or any best seats for any seated concert nowadays unless you have got hundreds of pounds.

It's one thing exposing a scandal that everyone already knew was happening but another altogether to suggest a solution. The programme offered nothing to help anyone. If they shut down Viagogo all they will have achieved is teaching everyone who watched the show how to rip people off. Basic supply and demand principles will mean this type of activity will continue and if it is driven underground the 'guarantee of a ticket' will also have gone. I thought it was a poor programme, aimed at Daily Mail readers who sit there tutting and shaking their heads but did nothing to offer any solutions.

I hope it starts the ball rolling ... that MP with her private member's bill. Promoters and agents get a slap in the face and potential audience members see that they are being taken for a ride.AxeBass wrote:It's one thing exposing a scandal that everyone already knew was happening but another altogether to suggest a solution. It's very telling that Ticketmaster and Live Nation didn't put forward anyone to speak on their behalf.
