New Rock Bands

Post by kiss-76 »

I was just wondering if anybody knows of any new rock bands that can keep me entertained after the likes of KISS and ACDC decide to hang up their boots and school uniforms respectively. I really enjoy Reckless Love and Avantasia (even though it's a slightly different genre) but I just don't know of enough bands to keep things fresh and entertaining. They may not be out there but if you can help please let me know :)

I'm hoping for more great new bands as well. Reckless Love and Steel Panther are current faves.

Have you heard Crashdiet? Here's a video from their last album.

Bit heavier than Reckless Love but the previous album had Oliver Twisted aka Ollie Herman on vocals.

A young band I'm into is Hydrovibe who, despite being unsigned, were asked to write a song for one of the Saw films. Their album is about £7 on iTunes (or at least it was when I bought it) and is very good. In fact it's easily one of the most played songs on my iPod.

Other than that, Rival Sons are pretty decent, as are Parlor Mob. I've seen both live (supporting Black Stone Cherry) and they do have potential.

If you like Avantasia, of course you need to check out Edguy - who are awesome (Tobias Sammetts main band).

Sabaton are an amazing band.

Airbourne are also big favourites of mine. And if you fancy a bit of Scottish Pirate metal -Alestorm are the dogs bollocks.

Sour Mash would also tell me off if I didn't mention Falling Red.

To be honest, my advice would be to check out Northern European metal - Germany and Scandinavia are where it's happening nowadays IMHO

Thanks for all of your suggestions. I was aware of Crashdiet before and I have a few of their albums, including the one with Olli. They are a really cool band. I couldn't agree more on Airbourne either. I saw them in 2010 and thought they were brilliant live. I also have tried Edguy but it's a bit too power metal for me. However there are a good few bands that I have not heard of here. I will check them all out and give feedback. Thanks :D

Always on the look out for new bands... but the old gaurd are still going.

Van Halen's latest is fantastic - highly recommended.

Also, there is a MONSTER on it's way.

I appreciate as much as any that the likes of the mighty KISS and Van Halen are bringing out new material but I am only 21 and I am going to need to get into new bands to take me through my whole life. Assuming I won't die in some fatal accident tomorrow. KISS will always be the core of my music collection but I would love to get into some new blood!

Van Halen are a NEW band!!! (They hadn't released anything for over 10 years until Feb this year!!! :D )

Being serious, The Treatment were quite impressive on the recent UK Steel Panther tour & they're supporting Image /Motley Crue on "The Tour" in the US...

Foxy Shazam are completely nuts but again they impressed me when they supported The Darkness. Depends what you're looking for I guess.

I completely agree with everyone who has mentioned Reckless Love though.
