Awesome. Very interesting looking back on festivals like this. I'd be interested in hearing everyone's experiences of this day and others.

Best post here for a while!

Yeah, that's the line up, but what was it like, what do you remember, how old were you etc.

Any one remember the plastic bottles being thrown, what a sight, just like a plague of locusts. :D
Plastic bottles were the main missile of the day,Riot had a couple from my good self :D they were shite.
The weather was a chuffing roaster, remember them, long hot summer days. The local old age scrouts complained about the noise that was coming from Burslem, it could be heard 3 miles away in Bradwell, fkn priceless was that.No ale on sale  i think they fkd up with the licence so panda pops were the refresh of the day
One of the best, spinal tap moments was when Vardis came on, Steve zodiac had a head full of johnsons talcum powder , he flicked his head ,then wow, watch that white stuff catch the wind.
Being honest Vardis were pretty good that day.
Riot were shit.
Triumph tried , but never captured the crowd.
Then enter Frank, fk me ive never heard any one play like that, being honest i still haven't and dont think i ever will.

Ozzy was top draw, DANNY, THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME I SAW GOD PLAY HIS GUITAR.
I paid my money just too see Randy Rhoads , it was worth every penny from my hard worked paper round.A guitar god that the likes of you and me will never see again,a lot of people say OZZY was shit faced that day, well if he was god bless him as that was 0zzy at his finest.Ozzy gave us songs off the first Blizzard album ; a few from ‘Diary Of A Madman’; and finished up with Sabbath’s ‘Iron Man’, ‘Children Of The Grave’ and ‘Paranoid’.
Ive never been a Motorhead fan but they did a stern job, Fast Eddie ,Filthy phil and Lemmy, classic line up.
great set list

1. Ace Of Spades
2. Stay Clean
3. Live To Win
4. Over The Top
5. No Class
6. The Hammer
7. Metropolis
8. Leaving Here
9. Jailbait
10. Iron Horse
11. Fire Fire
12. Too Late Too Late
13. Fast And Loose
14. Dead Men Tell No Tales
15. We Are The Road Crew
16. Capricorn
17. Train Kept A Rollin'
18. Bite The Bullet
19. Overkill
20. White Line Fever
21. Bomber
22. Motorhead

I remember the lighting rig in the shape of a bomber and a parachute team landing in the area, then one landed about 2 miles away at westport        daft twot.

One question, has anyone ever seen or heard a bigger PA.

Happy days at a proper, one day, heavy metal gig.
