R.I.P.
Former Stereophonics drummer Stuart Cable has been found dead in his home.
The 40-year-old, of Aberdare, had been due to play Download 2010’s Pepsi Max Stage on Saturday with new band Killing For Company. An album was scheduled for release to coincide with the festival gig.
Cable was a founder member of the Welsh five-piece in 1992, before being sacked by the band in 2003 for spending too much time on other projects.
He hosted his regular rock show on BBC Radio Wales on Saturday night as normal, while his former bandmates played Cardiff City stadium. He was found in the early hours of Monday morning.
Mother Mabel, 79, tells the Mirror: “Stuart has travelled all over the world with the band and I have worried myself silly. He is now settled down and then this has happens. It has not sunk in yet."
The Stereophonics were Richard Branson's first signing for the V2 label in 1996. They notched up several top ten singles and released three albums including the platinum-selling Performance and Cocktails.
Cable moved on after disagreements with frontman and childhood pal Kelly Jones over his growing media career. He was a temporary member of ex-Darkness outfit Stone Gods and later Killing For Company opened for the Who at the Liberty Stadium in Swansea.
He recently published his autobiography, Demons and Cocktails, in which he revealed how the Stereophonics' success had turned him into a "coke-taking zombie".
South Wales Police confirmed they are investigating the cause of Cable’s death, but add that there are no suspicious circumstances.

Sad loss of life at a young age but we all know what's involved at least it's a good bet.Pete wrote:Spain to win the world cup? Sounds good to me.Mr.Spireite wrote:anyone taking bets ?

Why was he kicked out of the Stereophonics anyways ?

How about just letting the young man rest hey? You have your opinions but maybe you should keep your own counsel here until all the facts are known?

He was kicked out of the band because he wasn't giving enough time for rehearsals etc..Mr.Spireite wrote:Sad loss of life at a young age but we all know what's involved at least it's a good bet.Pete wrote:Spain to win the world cup? Sounds good to me.Mr.Spireite wrote:anyone taking bets ?

Drugs is a problem in and around the music industry, hence the asumption......not exactly a leap of faith.

Drug abuse is a SOCIAL problem, prevalent in MANY aspects of life, FULL STOP. There is no evidence to suggest drugs were a part of Mr Cable's death and if indeed they prove to be and it's proven it was drug abuse then as sad as his death is then it's obviously tainted a bit as it was his own fault.
UNTIL that time comes can we not respect the dead? He died at 05:00 this AM. It was posted here just under an hour ago and the first thing that comes to your mind is he overdosed? Considering your own medical history (documented within this forum) one would have thought you would have been a little more respectful to the deceased, after all anyone can be given medication and anyone can make a mistake.

And if it's proven his death wasn't anything to do with drug abuse as you insinuated in your first post in this thread will you come back here and apologise...?Mr.Spireite wrote:Drug Abuse is a problem, agreed.
