World Cup 2010 Thread

Post by acesmiddlefinger »

OK Hope i havent overstepped the mark but its getting close to the first game,so bout time we had a WC thread for the football fans on here(Kev that doesnt include you,you support Leeds  ).
Any thoughts, predictions are welcome. Will England go out on penalties? Will Ronaldo be a winker again? Will Rooney see red? Can Lamps and Gerrard play together? Will Spain add the world title to the European one?? Not long till we find out!!

I reckon we could get to the semis but i cant see us beating Spain or Brazil because we cant keep hold of the ball long enough,id happily like to be proved wrong though.Ive had an each way bet on the Dutch at 10-1 hopefully they wont resort to hitting each other before the competition starts..Some good prices for England to have the highest goalscorer,i saw Crouch priced at 66-1 the other day, could be worth a quid.

Come on England!!

Judging on the way England played against Mexico, Japan and Platinum Um Bongo yesterday I think we'll struggle to do well. We really have no invention whatsoever. Our football is completely predicatable, slow and annoying with an over reliance on a tedious triangular passing build up, big hoof up front by whatever keeper Capello chooses to finally use, having a completely shit lumbering oaf in Heskey in the squad ( who is the worst ever world cup swuad player since that lanky pob lookalike Carlton fuc*ing Palmer made us look like a nationa incapable of producing talent ) and the real possibility that Rooney will see red within 5 mins of the first game.
However, I think we'll sail through the group stage as winners, where we'll line up against the Krauts and give them a well deserved slap with their own sausages on penalties, then face the dirty cheating Argies where we bore them to death with a typical Capello style throttling of the game and a last minute winner from a blatant John Terry handball that the ref amazingly misses. Probably play someone like the frogs in the semi's and then get given a footballing lesson in the final against Spain.
Of course in reality we'll go crashing out in the Quater Final.
Teams I think will do well:
Dirty cheating Argies
Ivory Coast
Goose Stepping efficient football playing sausage eating Krauts
Spain
and obviously, Brazil.

I hope England achieve sometihng more this time. We were cheated in 86 and 98 by the dirty Argies.
We blew it in 90 against the Krauts
We were robbed by the dirty cheating Portugays in 06
And we went out to a freak goal in 02
Its about time we made a mark in the world cup. Im bored to death with Brazil !!
COME ON ENGLAND !!!

England Vs USA - A nervy game with England just about scraping a win.
England Vs Algeria - A more confident performance, still lloking dodgy at the back but an easy win.
England vs Slovenia - A confident England tear Slovenia apart. The Tabloids have us winning the world cup already.

2nd stage
England vs Whoever. A nervy performance with England bever quite getting out of second gear. A narrow win

Q/F
England Vs Whoever - Out on Penalties!

England or Argentina will win the World Cup

Apparently. Maradona is allowing the WAGs to sleep with the players between games as long as the women do all the work. "sorry love, managers orders"
