Bingley Hall 1980 - New Footage?????????

Postby Demon Dave » Thu Jan 27, 2011 3:10 pm

After watching some Australia 1980 clips on youtube recently, I noticed that the 8mm footage at the end of the 7 part compilation could possibly be from Stafford 1980. A friend of mine who was at the show clearly remembers Gene balancing a flower on his nose just before the encores which you can see at the 08.06 minute mark in the clip. Also in Sounds music paperdated 13 september 1980, there is a picture of Gene from the gig picking the flower up. This looks remarkably like the same show to me. I could be wrong but either way this is great footage I haven't seen before. Enjoy.

Fasterpdiddy at Kissfaq, who also runs , says,

"Absolutely from Stafford '80. Footage has been traded forever under the wrong name of Eric's 1st show (New York, NY 7/25/80)."

Thats good enough for me. What do I win?

That looks like Stafford to me...still not the rumoured pro shot that is claimed exists somewhere, but still pretty cool to see.

Tho, as I said elsewhere, in a way I hope it stays undiscovered cos there is no way it could capture the magic of that night.

Stafford Bingley Hall, 1980

from

By jove I think he's got it! :-)

Dave, your next mission (should you choose to accept it) is to find photos or even footage of KISS at Virgin Megastore November 1982 that I haven't already got...i.e.
Currently living life on the water ;-)

I don't think that the clip is from Stafford '80. I was right in front of Gene, looking straight at him
at that point, and it the clip doesn't go the way I remember it. He picked up the rose just before
the encoes as they were coming back on stage.
I hope I'm proved wrong as I would love to see Stafford footage, but until I hear 'Alright Stafford'
and the quote by Paul saying 'that it was colder than a witches t*t' then I think that this clip is not
from Stafford.

You need to watch the clip more closely then...

Gene definatley IS crouching down before standing up...it's only just caught on the film but you can see it at 8:06 - 8:07.

I have seen other footage on YouTube where he balances a flower on his nose...but this is how I recall it being done at Stafford. Ace left of stage...laughing at Gene...Paul at the mike stand

and I know this will sound strange but Gene spitting blood is how I remember it - shaking his head from side to side and up and down.

I am convinced this is Stafford. No question.

This is the link to my old scrap book of that night showing gene with the flower viewtopic.php?f=1&t=5969

i dont think it's Bingley, my memory was gene stooping then balancing the flower and Ace laughing at his side. Ace was to the right of Gene as you looked at the stage (or genes left as RFB points out).

I wish it Was Bingley but that clip of the flower imho isnt that night !
