Metallica and Lou Reed

Post by Pete »

You may or may not know that Metallica and Lou Reed have recorded an album together.

Here is the first song from the album...

Heard this the otehr day. And my first thought was "crock of shit" - but I thought it got a bit better towards the end. Unconvinced is my current thinking.

And to think today is the 25th anniversary of the accident that killed Cliff Burton. I wonder what he would make of this...

It's fairly well documented that Cliff was by far the most musically open minded member of Metallica with the Velvet Underground being one of his favourites and rightly so.

On his own Reed has never done much for me (way, way behind Bowie and Iggy) and he didn't really add much to "The Elder" but I'm interested in hearing this, even more so having read the above comments.

Oh, and RIP Cliff. Still the only death of someone I never knew that continues to sadden me. :(

Woah there Tim! I only pondered what Cliff would've made of this collaboration. The rest of the album may be quite good, this track however is (by general consensus it would appear) a load of shite. Still if we all shared the same opinion the world would be a very boring place.

Anyway R.I.P to Cliff Burton.

Well after meeting and speaking to Cliff (and beating him at pool) i don't think he'd like this song at all. But imho, Cliff would have been long gone before Load and the black nail varnish fiasco.
Liking two seperate artists doesn't mean you'll like a collaboration. I like Enya and Dimmu Borgir, but i've no wish to hear them make an album together :D
