Now I like Lizzy and all that but I’ve always seen Lynott as a selfish, arrogant and ultimately weak individual, traits that left him just another dead rock star junkie and his kids without a Dad. I never met him so will never mourn him.

Great tunes though.

Great bit of Trolling by Moderator on a memorial thread. I'll look forward to posting something similar on the next anniversary of Freddie Mercurys death and see what responses come in.

Lynott is a legend. Since the age of 11 I think I have not gone more than a few days without playing his music. RIP

Oi, pick someone else who's dead to troll. Tim hates Freddie just as much as you do. How about trolling when we do a memorial to Bon Scott ? That should ruffle a few feathers.

Anyhoo, RIP Phil, what a waste. :(

Yep, this speaking ill of the deceased isn't very cool or dignified..we all have our failings...but Phil left a massive body of great songs and performances that have made my life better. RIP Philip, thanks for the tunes.. :D

Phil Lynott was and is a rock legend. Very little of what he did was 2nd rate. Lizzy's albums rarely had filler tracks in them - I even love the Xmas stuff he did with The Greedies.

I met his mum once, she was a lovely person who used Phil's memories to try and encourage people not to follow his lifestyle. I remember her using the phrase "love his music not his lifestyle".

OK. Hands up. That’s my opinion but with hindsight this is not the place to air it. We’ve got a family anniversary this week, five girls (pre-teen upto early forties) lost their Dad a year ago pretty much without warning, death and it's consequences are looming a lot at the moment but that’s of no concern to anyone on here.

Fuckin’ Freddie Mercury on the other hand…
