30th May 2001 Classic Rock mention tour
[From: Ken]
From the new June Classic Rock which just arrived today.

"From Russia with love KISS to play four UK show in September

As this issue went to press, we learned that KISS are to play four British dates in September, as part of their farewell world tour.  Although details of the venues concerned remain under wraps, we can reveal that the quartet - who recently riled hardcore fans by replacing original drummer Peter Criss with Eric Singer - will play British shows on September 19, 21, 22 and 23.  Given that the band insist these are their final gigs, demand is bound to be enormous, and likely venues include London's Wembley Arena, the NEC in Birmingham and Manchester's Evening News Arena.

Classic Rock understands the dates are taking place after the band were offered $6 million to play some shows in Russia, including a concert in Moscow's Red Square that could be attended by as many as 200,000 people, and the temptation to relent and slot in some European appearances was just too tempting to resist. Although still officially unconfirmed, the group are reported to be lining up their very final concert at Shea Stadium in New York.  Their much-delayed 'Alive IV' album remains on hold until further notice, but insiders suggest that a boxed set, including rarities from pre-KISS band Wicked Lester, is a definite possibility.

During down time with KISS, Singer has been back in the studio working with Alice Cooper on the follow-up to last year's 'Brutal Plant'.  The album's working title is reported to be 'Dragonstown'.

KISS fan Forever
[From: Nik]
The greatest KISS fan, Shawn Heimenz, passed away on Thursday, at age 31.

Shawn spent over a month in intensive care after a kidney transplant needed for his severe diabetes. Shawn has an entire room dedicated to KISS, including a KISS original pin-ball machine, many guitars, KISS dolls, cards, albums, etc.

The funeral is Monday, 14th of May at Dingman Funeral Home, St. Cloud MN. On the urn that carries Shawn's ashes, there is an engraved plate that reads:
Shawn Heimenz, ....date of birth, and of death, parental information and
"KISS fan forever"

If anyone reading this knew Shawn, let him be in your thoughts on Monday as he is buried.

Take Care,

Nik

5th May 2001 Eric hints at September tour
Whilst touring with Alive Cooper, Eric Singer has apparently confirmed to the Swedish press that he will be visiting Sweden again with KISS most likely in September. This adds more weight to the rumour that September seems to be the most likely month for a European KISS tour. Thanks to Kennet Tillner for the info.

Box set
[From: Metal Edge Online]
Universal Music has several hard rock compilations on its release schedule for spring, summer and beyond, starting with 20th Century Masters/The Millennium Collection Best Of CDS on Tesla and The Scorpions on May 15, another Best Of on Anthrax in mid-June, and Ultimate Collection compilations on Y&T and Black 'N Blue on June 26. Looking ahead to fall, there will be an L.A. Guns collection and the long-awaited KISS boxed set, and remastered releases of Aerosmith's Geffen Records albums.

KUK Note: With Tommy Thayer behind this I think we're in for a bit of a treat, he seems to know exactly what the fans want and has done a great job on previous KISS work such as The Second Coming, Detroit Rock City opening credits etc.
