Gene Simmons Donates Decanter
Press Release For immediate release (Toronto, ONTARIO) November 13, 2000 -- Gene Simmons, bass player for the rock band KISS, has donated a signed limited edition BACARDI 8 Millennium Decanter by BACCARAT to launch the first in a series of online celebrity auctions at http://www.artvault.com, a leading e-commerce Web site for fine art. All proceeds from the auction will be donated to The Willy Chirino Foundation, which has helped hundreds of children throughout the Caribbean, Latin America and Cuba. The auction begins Tuesday, November 14 at 9:00 a.m. and ends Monday, November 20 at 8:00 p.m. with previews beginning today. Participants in the auction must register at the Art Vault Web site prior to placing a bid. The unique Baccarat crystal Decanter is a replica of one designed for the Bacardi Company in the 1940s. Used exclusively for their aged rums, it is majestically crowned with the Bacardi bat, symbol of Bacardi rums since 1862. The Decanter contains 750 ml of 8 year-old rum and comes in a luxuriant box. A framed, numbered certificate of authenticity signed by Mr. Simmons accompanies the Decanter. Backed by technology developed by Bid.com, the Art Vault provides auction participants with an entertaining and easy
bidding experience. The user interface allows participants to easily identify the opening price, minimum bid, and current
leading bid. The site's advanced technology takes the work out of the bidding process by advising clients by e-mail whether
their bid has been approved or declined, and whether their bid was successful or not. And by utilizing the Web site's bidding
agent, an intelligent tool that checks bid activity at regular intervals, participants can place absentee bids up to their
own pre-determined level. |
