Thing is, Ace still believes he has "a guy" to do all that stuff and just ignores everything.

There's some talk that this is common practise in USA , instead of paying a mortgage on something that's got negative equity it's cheaper to default on payments and get it repossessed ..doesn't always work but in some instances it's a better way of doing it ..!!

Exactly. He's basically rented it very cheaply for a couple of years, or taken a free loan - depending on which way you want to look at it:

He bought the 2,441-square-foot house in 2000 for $650,000 and refinanced it in 2006 with a loan for nearly three quarters of a million dollars.

He doesn't have to worry about a bad credit rating, and it's not his main residence, so it's a 'smart' way of doing it (not saying it's the 'right' way).
