Posted in another newbie thread, guess I'll stick it here too.

I'm migrating from KISSFaq to here. Not sure if I'll post much. I've about had it being a fan, to be honest and it's mostly due to that site. On KISSFaq I get told often that my opinions are factually wrong, that I'm misguided and a "dumbass" when I dare rank Monster in my Top 5 or what have you. Who wants to be laughed at all the time you know? I've had it.
:?

It's the same 5-10 people who ruin that place and derail everything and that hate on the new albums and such. Most posters love them but the Mods let that place be run by the same few trolls.

Looking at this place it doesn't seem to be the case.

Anyway, glad to be here.

Hi All!

My names Paddy and I'm a Kissaholic! Been a Kiss fan since I was 13 when Crazy Nights came out!

How did you get into the band?

I was already into rock music and new of Kiss but had never listened to them. A friend said that they were soon to release a new album and were worth checking out. The album was crazy nights and I've never looked back!

What's your fave record/member/DVD etc?

Don't have a favourite album. I like the mix of albums they have come out with, from Destroyer to Unmasked to The Elder to Crazy Nights to Carnival of Souls...

How many times have you seen the band? Have you seen them abroad?

Seen them 15 times. First saw them at Donington '88. Then 3 times on the Revenge tour (Sheffield, Plymouth & Birmingham), Donington '96, Manchester, Birmingham & London '96, Finsbury Park '97, London '99, Download '08, Sheffield, Manchester & Birmingham '10 and London HMV forum last year.

What does Kiss mean to you?

Kiss means me never having any money! I collect Kiss stuff which isn't a cheap hobby. The core of the collection is Tour Programmes. Just 4 more to get and that will be the ful set (including all variations). Anyone got the Australian and German 'Unmasked' programmes for sale??!

Have you ever met a current or ex member of Kiss?

Met Bruce at Sydney airport in 2009. He was heading home after doing some guitar clinics and we were heading back after our Honeymoon. He was in the duty free and clearly in a hurry, but still had time to say Hi. Nice guy and what a way to end the honeymoon!

Greetings all! I suppose I should introduce myself - name's Callum, been a KISS fan since seeing them on a VH1 countdown of "men in makeup." My dad was into UK glam rock, so I was expecting to see Bowie or maybe Alice Cooper in the number one spot - of course that spot was reserved for KISS.

It was the video for "I Was Made For Loving You" and I was instantly hooked; I remember being a little creeped out by Gene. The next day I gathered my folks on the couch and made them watch the video when the countdown was repeated - they were unimpressed. My dad even said they "sound like any other rubbish seventies band." I was appalled by this assessment of my new favorite band, but, to be fair, going on the basis of that one song, I can see his point - it's not exactly their heaviest moment, but nonetheless I still love that song.

Anyway, "Alive III" followed - shocked to hear Paul's soaring melody line on "IWMFLY" - and then came "Double Platinum." I was officially a KISS fan. The band saw me though some tough times in high school - I wasn't exactly a model student - not to mention the catastrophic first marriage of an 18 year old who ignored the advice of everyone and now regrets it.

I went off KISS for a while about a year ago, but found my way back to the band. I can't say I'm overjoyed with the current state of things in KISS-dom, but I'll always be a fan. So much so that I'm currently trying to put together my own tribute band in my native Scotland.

Ever since that fateful day watching VH1, KISS have been a part of my life, and I'm sure they always will be: I wanted the best... I got the best.
