Styx new CD

Post by Sour Mash »

anyone ever wonder why this has never happened.? It's been eight years since the brilliant Cyclorama..
Although they've released a great live album and covers album, the band have never been hotter ..( no dennis DeYoung arguments please..)!
I'm sure a new CD would be really popular, journey are doing really well with new CDs, plus we've had new ones by, Reo Speedwagon, Foreigner, nightranger, etc also had releases by ACDC, Kiss, warrant, Black NBlue, King Kobra , Ratt, plus bands like Black stone Cherry and Airbourne release new CDs,,,
any thoughts .?!?

I suppose it's up to the band wether or not they need a new album or not tbh , the other bands that you mention Airbourne,Black stone cherry etc aren't they obliged to produce so many albums during there contracts etc ?
WEith there record labels as for styx im not a follower so maybe they haven't any ties to record labels etc .. :D

As wonderful as 'Cyclorama' was - it's one of my fave Styx CD's - I think the sales were poor at the time, partly due to the collapse of Sanctuary Records.

The money is in touring these days so that is what they have been doing extensively, particularly in the US. I think the live album & covers album have both provided a stop gap while they see if it's worth trying to release an album of new material.... and of course Tommy Shaw has just released a 'bluegrass' solo album as well as working on projects with Jack Blades, so they haven't been lazy ;)

Maybe this successful recent run of shows and the upswing in the popularity of quality AOR/FM rock will encourage them to record some further material....I certainly hope so!!! 8)
