Best advice, no matter what camera, always use the fastest ISO speed, no flash ( unless you want all stage lighting stripped out ) try to move as close as you can get to the stage. Have an Idea of the type of shot you want.
No good having shaky hands as mentioned, it will look shite. On the other hand, if it's your favourite band, don't bother taking pictures, just enjoy the band. If you can stand watching them through the eye piece, fine, but you will spend more time thinking about the next shot. you will always get better results with a SLR rather than a compact.
