Get in! Kasdan's back! :D

http://www.sfx.co.uk/2012/11/21/origina ... -deadline/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Lawrence Kasdan, who worked on the scripts for The Empire Strikes Back and The Return Of The Jedi (as well as Raiders Of The Lost Ark) is making a return to the Star Wars franchise, according to Deadline.
The site reported yesterday that Disney has approached Kasdan, and also X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days Of Future Past scripter Simon Kinberg, to work on Episodes VIII and IX based on plans sketched out by George Lucas, while Michael Arndt continues work on Episode VII as previously reported.

Then later in the day, Deadline writer Borys Kit Tweeted, “Here’s what I’m hearing on the Star Wars writers: not courting but that deals are closed. And they will also be producers.”

Deadline isn’t a site that usually goes in for rumour-mongering unless it has strong belief in is sources, so this looks like it could be kosher
Feeling more & more optimistic about this now.

It does. Abrams will do justice to the film.

Right, okay, there are rumours and there are rumours. And this must be filed under rumour for the moment – because even the site peddling it warns that plans may change – but you kinda trust some sites when they quote “sources” more than others. And Entertainment Weekly is one of those sites. So if they say that their sources tell them that the current plans for the two Star Wars standalone films are for one concentrating on Han Solo and one concentrating on Boba Fett, then we’re more likely to think there’s some fire with this smoke, rather than mirrors.

In more detail, EW says the films will be, “a young Han Solo saga, focusing on the wisecracking smuggler’s origin story, and a bounty hunter adventure with Boba Fett at the center of a rogue’s gallery of galactic scum.”

Origin story? We didn’t know Han was some kinda superhero. We just thought he was, well, born.

Expanding further: “The Han Solo story would take place in the time period between Revenge Of The Sith and… A New Hope, so although it’s possible Harrison Ford could appear as a framing device, the movie would require a new actor for the lead — one presumably much younger than even the 35-year-old Ford when he appeared in the 1977 original.

“The Boba Fett film would take place either between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back, or between Empire and Jedi, where the bounty hunter was last seen plunging unceremoniously into a sarlacc pit.”

Anyways, loads more details and speculation over at EW.com, plus that proviso that, “the deal could always be altered futher.”

Done right both of these couild be rather good. :D

done right Pete they will be fantastic, following a young Boba scared by seeing his Dad have his head cut off. I also heard via the BBC site that a stand alone film about Yoda is also in the pipe line

Yep, I'd heard about that Yoda film.
Im not so sure about this to be honest. It maybe a good idea but for me, Disney should stick to the saga.
