OMG how sad Pepsi Tate RIP
I have just received this via myspace from Tigertailz
Goodnight and God bless our dear old 'Boy'
We are absolutely devastated to bring you the news that our beloved friend and Tigertailz Bass player PEPSI TATE lost his battle with pancreatic cancer today. Pepsi passed away peacefully at 10:30 this morning, Tuesday 18th September 2007, in Holme Towers cancer hospice in Penarth Cardiff. Pepsi's wife Shan and close family were with him.
Words cannot describe how we feel right now. We're in bits and will miss him so much.
Goodnight Boy - we'll see you again soon fella. You mean the world to us.
xxx
Jay, Kim and Matt
I am in shock, the world has lost a fine bass player, but more importantly a damm fine human being
God bless ya pepsi.

Shit.
You can argue the musical merits of the 'Tailz as long as you like (I was for 'em) but in my experience you couldn't doubt that Pepsi was a damn fine guy.
I met him quite a few times from 87-91 (I think I also stood next to him for the Crue at Donnington in 84 but that's another story) and he was always cool and remembered who you were. And his artwork and creative vision made the band stand out from the rest of the bands on that Eighties scene - a real talent.
Condolences to his family and those who really knew him - there's a few on this board, I suspect.
RIP Pepsi - A true Glam icon. "Dance The Night Away".

Re: OMG how sad Pepsi Tate RIP
This is awful news. Pepsi had not been well for some time in truth, but - much like we all hoped with Eric Carr back in the day - you just figured that he'd battle through it...
I met him back in 1994, when my old band City Kidds were on a 2-week UK tour supporting the 'Tailz - I shall never meet a kinder, gentler soul than that of Pepsi during that time. Always had time for you, always thinking of others - he could not have been more welcoming or accomodating to us. I shall miss him terribly. My condolences to his nearest and dearest - not least Shan...and Kim, Jay & Matt too...
RIP Pepsi...

Re: OMG how sad Pepsi Tate RIP
I for one, was never fortunate enough to meet Pepsi, although had planned on seeing Tigertails at some point in the year....
Such awful news, and very sad for all those who knew and loved him.
I've read nothing but nice things about his warmth and kindness - all round, a very decent and lovely guy. Not least, talented.
My deepest sympathy goes out to his wife and family, as well as his 'boys' from TT and friends.
Another sad loss this year.
