I had spylock a few months ago - slowed my pc right down and little icons and folders were appearing everywhere - at the time I had the free avg - asked them and they said they knew about the infection. Two days later - they sent me a zipped update and got rid of it - that's why I decided to go with a 2 year AVG package - it's so good that it checks my pc as I log in - so it slows the pc down as regards emails, forums etc ....

Try AVG, not sure if it will clash with the Norton you have.

Good luck.

I am sure there are real pc whizkids here ...

You shouldn't really install a second AV, there will be conflicts.

Go here http://uk.trendmicro-europe.com/consume ... launch.php

that should help.

Spoke to him on the phone earlier. This virus he's got sounds a right bastard.
He's lost his internet connection and the bloody thing keeps moving.

Sounds like a full reformat might be the order of the day.

Last text off him reads

"Fkn virus,I'm gonna take the back off the cmptr and spray sum bleach in it"

It seems as the virus has affected his spelling as well :D

Mr. Wood, please pass my regards to the young un, and advise him kindly that bleach is not the answer

Anyway his spelling was never that good anyway

Empty your temporary internet files before you do anything as it's stored in there (which is why you can't find it in the maze of folders). You can find the button to do that under 'Internet Options' in IE.

Then either download the free version of A-Squared (very good at getting rid of Trojans):-
http://download5.emsisoft.com/a2FreeSetup.exe

Or try AVG (also free):-
http://free.grisoft.com/

Or Avast as mentioned by Gary.

Good luck!

Very useful tool is HouseCall, has never let me down whenever I have recommended it.

Just pop along once a week to back up your normal scans.

Whilst on the recommending line, have you tried AVG as a full time AV solution, along with spy bot and ad aware my systems have stayed clean for years.

Glad to be of assistance.
