Re: Sheffield Show Reports Thread
Well imho i fuc*ing loved it ! set list not the best but hand on heart, who gives a fu*k ! the best band in the world put on a brilliant show from start to finish for me.
The MDD opening was brilliant and knocked everyones socks off from Doc leading them to the stage to the explosive opening and cracking hydraulics.
I was lucky to get right next to the center stage and saw the set list from one of the crew. It said Paul would do three numbers from it but he only did one. Not sure if he was feeling to good as he sounded quite sore when talking.
Never the less he did IWMFLY right infront of me and it was brilliant.
I aint going to over analyze the show, i loved it, enjoyed it and compared to a night in with Britains got talent or Ant and Dec i'll listen to the same fuc*ing songs every week lol.
Grabbed a shirt inside for £22.00, other merch things like signed drumskins for 20 quid, tommy thayer photos signed 20 quid. Bootleg city outside was wank with all the shirts having the German Logo wtf !
id go to Sheffield arena again as well, what a brilliant little place, not to big and really comfortable.
only down side was i left me lights on when i got back to the car and the battery was flat as a kippers dick ! so had to wait 45 mins for the RAC to rescue me, still got home by one o'clock though.
IMHO I cant wait for Manchester next.
i took some bits of video which aint brilliant but will give you an idea, i'll upload later.

Re: Sheffield Show Reports Thread
Awesome show, everything I expected and more. Been like 10 years since I last saw Kiss and the first time I have seen them with Eric and Tommy and they were spectacular! People have already gone over the set list etc. so I won't repeat but some highlights for me were:
- Eric's bazooka and drum solo
- Love Gun, just because I love that song so much
- The new enterance and Modern Day Delilah is a great show opener
- Crazy Crazy Nights was really really good despite it not being my favourite Kiss song.
- The 'We Don't Get Fooled Again' interlude during Lick It Up
The stage was awesome, special effects awesome and the band seemed to be really enjoying themselves. Paul's voice seemed a little strained in places but no more than any other time I;ve seen them and not too much to spoil things. Overall 10/10 guys for another awesome night in Kisstory. What made the gig all the more special is that is was the first Kiss gig with my gorgeous wife and even more exciting is that it was the first kiss gig for my as yet unborn baby, safely being carried in said beautiful wife's cargo area!
Anyway check out my flickr for the pics I took:

Oh yeah, support was a band called 'Taking Dawn'. not heard much of their stuff but liked them a lot, will probably buy their album now!

Not it wasn't full. The upper rear seats section was closed off with curtains and there were quite a few empty seats elsewhere...there was also plenty of room in the standing section. I'd say maybe 2/3s full.Did the arena seem full?

Those are some really great pictures you took..The video is good as well...to be honest I am really surprised at the size of the crowd, I was thinking if they got 1/2 of that it would be a success...I have a ticket for Birmingham on Wednesday, but put my back out on Friday...am still in bed, am hopeful to be well enough to go, it would be ashame to miss such a good show...

Great opening show! KISS hit the stage at 8.45 and left about 10.50...two+ classic hours of pure joy!
My personal highlights were as follows:
The new hydraulic lift which brings KISS up over the stage then out over drums and finally down onto the stage.
The whole arena singing along to Say Yeah.
Eric's new cannon shooting trick.
Gene singing Animal...it sounds awesome live.
Eric and Tommy's "solo duet".
Crazy Crazy Nights being made to sound like a great live Rock song!!!
The audience singing the breakdown section of God Gave Rock n Roll to You 2 back to the band...Paul was impressed!
The only change I would like to see would be to let Tommy sing When Lightening Strikes instead of Shock Me, maybe later on the tour it'll happen.
Thanks to everyone in block 101 for standing up for KISS and special thanks to KISSMAD76 for being such excellent company!

What a great night! the entrance was brillinat, I'd like to see another band trying to out do KISS, it wont happen
The KISS family were brillinat, met some new ones and lots of old friends. Glammy I owe you for a pack of fags.
Im not going to say what songs I would of liked to hear, because theres not a lot that I dont like. But I would just like to say, if you come out wanting your money back, you dont really like rock and roll. A fantastic night!!! and for a first gig for Max, well he LOVED it. Ive been to gigs before with him, and normally he stands and takes everything in, last night his fist was pumping in the air, he was singing along and really loving it. infact we both sound like we are about to lose our voices

If its worth doing well, shout at someone else untill they do it right

Loved it. If I'd seen the set list written down in black and white before hand (I had the chance), yeah, I would've been disappointed. No "Simple Type", no "Take Me", no "The Oath" (and luckily no "No, No, No"). But as it unravelled it was pure joy, just classic track after classic track..."Delilah" was a great opener and straight into "Cold Gin"! "Firehouse" is back! "Crazy Nights" took you back to 87/88 and was as good as when DTK do it! And "100,000 Years", according to Stan, a song played at every Kiss gig ever (apart from every Kiss gig betweem 1976 and 1992 eh, Paulie?), was a good quarter of an hour shorter then normal.
"Shock Me"? So what?
I thought "Animal" was a let down but everyone else on here seems to love it, coulda used another "Sonic Boom"-er and, predictably, " I Love It Loud" is a horse which has been stinking of glue for what seems like forever. C'mon - "God Of Thunder", surely...
Support band were awful in my opinion, just not good enough to play on a stage that big, way out of their depth. Too heavy metal without being anywhere near heavy metal enough. And their version of "The Top Gear" song would have Clarkson spinning in his grave. And Shark Island in theirs. Ten seconds of the Stooges sublime "TV Eye" over the PA as they walked soon cleansed the memory though. Did I say I seeing the Stooges tonite..?
Bring on the rest!

What a Night!!!
Thoroughly emjoyed the whole show.
The new entrance was simply stunning, and this time we were the first to see it, totally unexpected-no you tube spoilers or anything. I couldn't get my jaw off the floor for the whole of Delilah!!
Thought
was on top form, voice good and seemed to be in a good mood very upbeat and got a good rapport going with the crowd imho.
also on good form. Vocals very good indeed, have to say though I thought he was flagging a bit after the blood spitting/flying, maybe thats why the latter part of the show is more
biased?
Was great,as was
and I really liked the fact they joined the drum and guitar solos together. That along with keeping 100,000 years a bit shorter than the song title suggests helped the show avoid the usual flat spot in the middle that it can sometimes suffer from.
All in all the band were great. Great show, good sound. I liked the setlist, would have preferred Lightning strikes over Shock me and God of Thunder over Love it Loud but thats just my personal preference, the show had good pace and worked really well.
Crazy, crazy nights and GGRARTY both fitted in great for me.
I took both my kids along to this show and I can't help thinking they'll never see a better show. What a gig as your first ever gig!, I wish my first experience of Kiss had been as good as last night.
It truly was everything I ever wanted to see at a Kiss show.
The only slight disappointment was the turn out. If the place had been packed to the rafters the atmosphere would have been a lot better, still ,going to Brum next week. Roll on Wednesday
