Sonic Boom Meet & Greet Reviews

Postby AxeBass » Mon May 03, 2010 8:03 am

Has anyone splashed out for the Ultimate Kiss Experience? If so please let us all know what it was like.

I will post my own review later in the tour after the Milan show.

I'm doing Glasgow M&G on Sunday. Flying to London the next day, but I'll try and get a post up if my replacement iPhone arrives before I go.

Hi Everyone...

As mentioned in the Newbie section a week or so ago I have been an admirer of Kiss since I first bought dressed to Kill back in 1974...Have seen them twice since and am really lookin forward to the Birmingham show tomorrow night...

This being said, I can tell that there are some serious fan's on this board who devote a considerable amount of time and resources to being a Kiss fan which is great...I Just think it is a bit sad that such devoted fans should have to pay £1K for the meet the band.. Personally I am not so devoted that I would make the effort to meet the band, but I think there must be alot of people who would love too but can't spend that kind of money to do it....

Wouldn't it be nice if the band took that into consideration for the sake of the faithful here...

Okay...enjoy the show...
It's starting to hit me umm...like a, two ton heavy thing...

I know 1k is a hell of a lot to spend to meet a few guys. I don't like going away on holidays for various reasons. I enjoy holidays sometimes, just not every year and blah blah blah. I spend most of my money and leave going to various gigs and stuff. For me this is a one off, once in a lifetime, meet your heros kind of thing. For what I get out of it on a personla level is well worth the 1k. I love music! I love musicians! I admire them. Meeting people randomly and getting a picture, or going to a pre-arrange meet for me is on the same level. My wall of signed stuff makes me smile everytime I'm feeling a bit down. You can't put a price on that. The signed Ace solo album I have, where Ace did the KISS ss in my name makes me grin like an idiot every time.

I understand people having the feelings to it as they do, but most people who are doing it aren't just doing it because they can. I think the price is a bit high. Alice Cooper was only, if I remember correctly, £300, but each to their own. The KISS issue of Classic Rock has Paul responding to it. What he said to the question "Can you perhaps lower meet and greet prices, or come outside to see your fans?":

"No. There's no reason to lower the price because it's a special event for people who can afford it. Do we come out and say hello to our fans? No. We bust our ass on stage for two-and-a-half hours, saying hello to our fans. It's not feasible, not for a band like us who kill ourselves on stage then get a well deserved rest."

From the horses mouth.

This isn't meant to be a rant. Just my side of why I'm doing it and why it's as high as it is. Don't hate the people who are going to this. Some people have ben less than polite when I've mentioned it. I don't want to spend 1K on four alloys for my car, but I do to meet my heros and get two steps closer to the set of signed solo albums I would love :)

All the best people.

Enjoy whatever KISS tour experience you're going to have.

Nice post Ross (and welcome to the forums).

A good friend of mine is seeing KISS for the very first time and has got himself a meet & greet, his reasonings are almost identical to yours.

Meet and Greet when he played London the tail end of last year. He was very very cool. The people organisingit weren't. Like I said, my signed solo LP is one of my favourite possesions :D ACE-)

My first tattoo was Ace's make up. The M&G was a shambles and the show was late starting it because of it. Was a good gig though. Although not as good as the Astoria the year before.

Oh, and I called it Ace's make up, not to be an ass to Tommy. Tommy was heavily influenced by him, not copying him. If you've heard the Balck N Blue stuff you know that. To me, I got it as Ace's make up. Tommy wears it well though.
