Dodger Stadium Halloween 1998
Mini-Review
| I actually got up at 4AM to watch the live internet broadcast
of the Halloween show in LA (the first show of the Psycho Circus tour). After a few
problems with the sound breaking up it eventually seemed to sort itself out. The pictures
on the right are as good as it got quality wise, I guess it'll be a long time before
decent images will be broadcast from concerts over the net. I won't even go into 'Swinging
Willies Circus Side Show', who started off the Psycho Circus (please leave Willie behind
when you come over here!). Basically the show was much like the last tour, only with a
slightly different set list. The actual stage was more or less the same - with the stack
of amps at the rear, and two screens either side of the stage. Only 3 songs were played from Psycho Circus and am afraid to say that 2 out of the 3 were a disappointment. I think they need to practice 'Psycho Circus' and 'Within' a bit more, they just didn't pull off live (especially the chorus from Within), Ace really rocked on 'Into The Void' though, much better than Shock Me. Paul just couldn't seem to hit the right notes on Psycho Circus, maybe it was just because it was the opener and he was a bit nervous or something (he done the same at Donington with king Of The Night Time World), I don't know. Apart from that it was a great show, it was nice to hear 'She' played live again and 'Nothin To Lose' (even if it isn't quite a good without Eric Singer on vocals). There were a few hiccups, but nothing major, the one that springs to mind is Gene shouting 'Give me a fu**in' spotlight' at the beginning of 100,000 years! Hopefully we won't have to wait too long before the show makes it to Europe! Complete set list:- Psycho Circus |
