I first got involved with KISS a few years ago, while going to school in South Beach Miami, FL. I was a music business student. I was doing some work with Rob Freeman, who co-engineered Ace's solo album with Eddie Kramer in 1978. While going to school, I worked with such bands as Rush, and Metallica. After finishing school, I moved back to my native New Jersey. There I started working some of Ace's shows. I would see Ace about once or twice a month for about a year. We hit it off pretty well. Ace is one of the coolest guys I know. Once KISS got back together, I started writing material for "PROPHECY".
"PROPHECY" is dedicated to ERIC CARR and a tribute to the KISS solo albums. The record will also feature some other KISS related musicians, including former members of The Ace Frehley Band. Eric Carr is featured on the CD is a couple of different ways. The CD opens with a rare radio I.D. that Eric did shortly before his passing. Later on the CD, is a digitally remastered version of Eric's "YOUR TURN TO CRY". I also do a cover of this song to pay tribute to Eric.
The story of Eric's involvement with the project is pretty cool. A friend of mine knew Eric's family. I went to a KISS expo. in New Jersey, and was introduced to Eric's sister. I had made an Eric Carr action figure, that I wanted to give to the family, but didn't know if I would get the chance. I gave the figure to Eric's sister, and she loved it!!! Later in the day, after telling her that my CD would be dedicated to Eric, she offered a featured appearance of Eric's material. I loved the idea. What better way to remember such a great guy, than with a piece of his own material. I took the recording into the studio to give the best presentation possible. The song is really cool. Eric plays, and sings on it. It's a great way for the fans to remember Eric as a musician, a member of KISS, and most importantly as a great guy!!!!
The cover art for the CD is a tribute to the KISS solo records. It features a solo album style portrait of myself in the makeup I would have worn if I had the opportunity to be a member of the band. The "glow" color for the hair is yellow. Dennis Woloch (who did the graphic design for the solo records) gave me some input on the design. I will be doing the national (USA) Kiss Expo circuit to promote the CD. During this tour I will be making radio appearances, doing Q&A sessions, a performing. The official release date is Sept. 26, 1999. The release will officially kick off at the 1999 New England KISS Expo, in Rhode Island, USA.
