30th January 2004  Gene on Banzai
[From: Paul Harrison]
According to Heat, Gene Simmons appears on the February 6th edition of C4's Banzai.
[This is the edition that was shown last May on E4 - Gene meets 'Lady One Question']
Bruce in Aus
[From: Nicola Ciccarone]
Only one week to go before Bruce Kulick, Kiss guitarist from 1984 - 1996 hits town for his third solo tour of Australia to pay homage to his 12 Kiss years.

Being Kulick's third tour downunder, Bruce has given the set list a huge shake up, performing some of the rarest of Kiss' songs including several that the band has never before performed live. Many of the songs have been selected through fans emailing Bruce direct, even the Kiss hit 'God Gave Rock and Roll To You' which hasn't been performed by Kiss since Bruce departed will be dusted off for the traditional fists in the air and sea of cigarette lighters.

Best of all, the tickets are reasonably priced at a low $35.20 (Melbourne, $40 on the night at the door) and $38 (Sydney) Tickets to the shows are selling fast and as the shows in 2002 and 2003 sold out, all fans are encouraged to get their tickets in advance.

These shows are a Kiss fan's dream come true, getting up close and personal with one of their heroes and getting to hear tunes that they haven't heard even Kiss perform in many years.

Kulick can't wait to get back on stage to let his fans know he is OK after being shot twice in LA after attending Motley Crue's singer Vince Neil's performance - he survived the shooting AND the concert!

Bruce will hang around after each performance and sign autographs and meet the fans. Bruce will be performing with an all-Australian band including members of Stand and popular Kiss cover band, Dinissty.

Kulick has performed with some of the rock greats including Meat Loaf, Grand Funk Railroad, Michael Bolton and Billy Squire. He is endorsed by Marshall Amplifiers and ESP Guitars.

25th January 2004  Iain Lee on Gene Interview
I've just heard from Iain Lee regarding his recent interview with Gene on RI:SE. Look out for a special feature with Iain coming up very soon.

One of the projects Iain is currently working on is singing Detroit Rock City with his own band... in Japanese! Here's what Iain has to say about the interview:-

"i had no idea it was going to happen. i had been joking all week that the team should arrange it, but i was joking and never thought they actually would. apparently it took 3 months to arrange and 10 minutes before the interview, gene called the la studio to say he was stuck in traffic and possibly wouldn'tmake it!

the interview was completely spontaneous. the crew gave me a script that had been written by our writers and approved by gene, but it was the usual bollocks so i ditched that and went into nerdy fan overdrive. hope i asked all the right questions for KISS fans. it doesnt make much difference, because he answers whatever he fancies and neatly dodges any slightly awkward questions. he is a pro. still, i was surprised how nice he was about ace. that was kind of a sad litle tale."

KISS Forever Band news (sorry, posted late!)
[From: Dave]
Hi my pal Mark "Psycho Circus" Mackay (acting as Roadie for the Mighty KISS Forever from Hungary) got hold of me yesterday to ask me to get some bodies to their inaugural UK gig in Newcastle tonight (21st). It looks like their Felixstowe gig has had to be postponed so this will be the UK's only chance to get to hear this great band for a while. As an owner of one of their albums, I can honestly say (as a KISS fan for the last 30 years), that this band really know how to rock and roll all nite! Trillians will not know what hit it! The sound is so tight, you could just close your eyes...

ROCK AND ROLL WAR STORIES Book - ISBN# 0-9658794-2-9

Pitbull Publishing LLC announces the long awaited, anticipated release of ROCK AND ROLL WAR STORIES.
Advanced Copies Release Date: December 15th, 2003. In all major book stores and online stores January 2004.

From the critically acclaimed, and sometime damned Author, Gordon G. G. Gebert, comes his third book, "ROCK & ROLL WAR STORIES". You will never listen to your favorite band again without thinking of these twisted stories.

Musician "slash" Author, Gordon G. G. Gebert, has done it again. He will take us past the "velvet rope" at warp speed, pinned with a plethora of all-access passes (that would make Wayne and Garth envious), into the utter chaos and mayhem of rock and roll with an uproarious collection of  TRUE stories on the road, in the studio, and everywhere else in between. No one will stop you as you will be dragged through the bowels of hell and back whether you like it or not. Gordon, along with Philadelphia’s premiere rock journalist, Lynn Ramage', takes you on an insane rock and roll trip that will keep you reading as if you’ve just seen a train wreck.

Gebert’s previous smash hit books, KISS & Tell and KISS & Tell MORE!, sent the actual members of KISS and die-hard KISS fans reeling when Gebert revealed "the man behind the curtain" in his candid expose’ of Ace Frehley and KISS. One thing critics and fans all agree upon is that KISS & Tell and KISS & Tell MORE! are ENTERTAINING MUST-READS!

One way or another, by the end of this tour you’ll know what it takes to be a REAL rock and roll war veteran. It’s as close as you’ll ever get to being part of the entourage. Read it! Live it! Rock on!

Tommy Shaw covers Love Gun
[From: Gary Banton]
Tommy Shaw's diary notes on Styxworld.com. I can't wait to hear this!!

"This afternoon I participated in an AC/DC tribute project produced by my friend Bob Kulick. Bob has produced some incredible albums in the last few years, including a Pink Floyd tribute that was stellar. He knows so many great players and singers who by now have faith in his productions and whenever I get a call to participate, I just say yes, because I know that he will be pairing me with legendary players whom he has the knack of getting spectacular performances from. Today I sang "Downpayment Blues" on a track featuring Ainsley Dunbar, Tony Franklin and Albert Lee. It was a treat to sing such a great bluesy AC/DC song with these great players all around. When I was finished, Bob played me the mix of a song I had sung most recently for a KISS tribute CD. Steve Lukather played lead (a solo so hot I thought the speakers might burst into flames) guitar and Tim Bogart provided a driving bass track. It blew me away! Gene and Paul will be proud when they hear this homage to their classic "Love Gun."
4th January 2004  First UK tour rumour of the year!
[From: TotalRock.com]
As previously announced, Metallica are to headline the Download Festival in Glasgow on June 2 and Donington on June 6. And both Slipknot and Machine Head are strongly tipped to appear on the bill with them, at least at Donington. Right now, the festival organizers have made no announcements, but TotalRock understands Donington might be a two-day affair as it 2003, with Aerosmith and Kiss being linked with an appearance at the site on June 7. Stay tuned for further news soon.

Thanks to Paul & Dave for sending this in.
